About the Role
The Orchard is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial leader to manage and execute its growth strategy, team building and client relationship initiatives in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA). Driving efficient communication and best practices, setting and attaining measurable goals, developing and upskilling staff, and articulating, operationalising and evolving the company’s value proposition are critical to the candidate’s success. The candidate must have relationships across the industry at all levels, and the ability to elevate the company’s revenue and profile within the current client and retail base.
The Vice President is the primary conduit for new revenue and value proposition opportunities. The successful candidate must be able to drive the business at a fast pace in an ever-changing environment. While not required, experience in the independent sector is preferred.
What You’ll Do:
Manage and expand high-level client and account relationships across the local industry, heighten market presence and brand awareness.
Increase territorial market share, revenue, and profit through strategic local repertoire deals and label partnerships.
Drive new deal signings and local M&A strategy.
Inspire, manage and develop local staff, and collaborate with colleagues on a regional and global level.
Nurture productive working relationships with local SME executives and Orchard colleagues.
Provide local market insights and build and execute strategy in conjunction with global senior management.
Drive heightened cooperation within the region and grow the market as a team, both through local releases and international representation of the Orchard's catalogue.
Drive product adoption of The Orchard’s tools and services across the client base.
Liaise with various internal departments, from finance and marketing to legal and management, to ensure all client and retail partner business needs are met.
Management of HR, payroll, expenses in tandem with Sony and Orchard NYC.
Key liaison with Sony for company integration & ongoing management purposes: - HR, IT, expenses, travel, compliance, training & development, recruitment etc.
Create and maintain a collaborative work environment; ensure staff stay focused, on target, and on message.
Provide support and oversight as needed, including but not limited to content acquisition, operations, business development, collections, sales & marketing, video services.
Provide support by driving weekly management meetings, communicating company policy changes and projects that impact the territory, providing quarterly label revenue reports and analysis, business reviews, assisting in training and team management as needed.
Motivate and inspire the German team to exceed goals and expectations on an ongoing basis, providing support, encouragement and positive reinforcement.
Act as local industry representative attending events and conferences as required.
Who You Are:
Minimum 7 years’ business experience, preferably in the independent music sector, with at least 3 years’ people management experience.
Strong experience and understanding of the local music industry and digital landscape.
Experience within a label or distribution company managing catalogues, frontline releases and relationships. Independent sector experience preferred.
Excellent knowledge of the digital space, including music retail, analytics and social media, with an ability to adapt to a constantly changing landscape.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to speak effectively across all levels of business, both internally and externally.
Highly advanced organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize to tight deadlines.
Passionate about Independent music, with a willingness to attend industry events and shows.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required and able to travel internationally.
