The music industry is still very inequitable for a vast majority of underrepresented communities.
This can make it difficult for people within these communities to succeed in their careers in music.
Mentoring is a powerful tool that can address inequality and underrepresentation in music by providing these communities with access to positive role models, guidance from experienced professionals and access to opportunities that can oftentimes feel gated.
We strongly believe in the power of mentoring and paying it forward.
Our community thrives on each of our members’ successes.
If you grow, we grow.
That’s why, since 2017, we launched a variety of mentoring programs designed to encourage our community to share information, resources and experiences with one another.

2024
2024 saw some steadfast programs return for another year. shesaid.so also piloted a micro-mentoring program in collaboration with ALLIES Members, the program received very positive feedback from both Mentors & Mentees.
2023
In 2023 we joined forces with a new partner, the MPA (Music Publishers Association). This program focused more on coaching for mid/senior level established music publishing executives on the verge on moving into senior leadership roles.
We also continued our partnerships with Keychange and ADE seeing through some very successful programs.
2022
2022 saw all of our mentoring programs grow bigger, better and stronger. We were so pleased to be able to run our programs with Keychange, ADE and PRS again.
2021
In 2021 we continued programs with long term partners of ours. We also launched our Power Up mentorship program which is designed to specifically address anti-Black racism and racial disparities in the music sector.
2020
The pandemic disrupted our 2020 plans quite dramatically, much like many of our peers in the music industry. Fortunately, we’ve been able to adapt some of our mentoring programs to a new virtual format that ensure we can continue empowering our community to grow during the strictest lockdown conditions.
2019
In 2019 we took the original she.grows concept and created mini-mentoring schemes in partnership with some of our favorite industry events and brands around the world.
2018
In 2018 we partnered with Sonos to launch she.grows 001, the first fully-fledged mentoring scheme featuring a total of 100 woman-identifying industry executives from the UK and India as part of a 6-month programme.
2017
she.grows launched in 2017 with a 4-month pilot program that paired 42 women from various areas of the music business in London.
Little did we know how successful and impactful our mentoring programs would be back then.
